Editing and Persian captions: a checklist before publishing
Automatic text needs review: check names, timing, right-to-left layout and readability alongside picture and sound.

Good captions are more than a transcript. They appear at the right time, remain readable and avoid obscuring the image. Persian also needs checks for writing direction, connected letters and mixed numerals or Latin words. Treat automatic output as a draft rather than a publication-ready file.
Correct the text before timing it
Compare names, brands, terminology and numbers with the original source. Speech-to-text tools can simplify the first pass, but language support varies by software and version. Check the current tool's supported-language list; having transcription does not automatically mean it supports Persian.
Prepare a short glossary of names and pronunciations. For a specialist service, have someone familiar with the subject review the text. Ideally this information is available from the video brief.
Captions and transcripts have different uses
A transcript can be read independently; captions are timed to the picture. W3C guidance includes audio information needed to understand the content, including relevant non-speech sounds. A text version can also help learners revisit the material.
In explainer motion graphics, review on-screen labels and captions together. Several long lines in both places compete for attention. Shorten wording without changing its meaning and break lines at natural points.
A mobile review checklist
- Leave enough space from the frame edges.
- Use text and background colours that remain readable.
- Check the order of Latin names and numbers.
- Avoid covering faces or important product details.
- Align the caption with the corresponding speech.
For example, inspect an exported Persian sentence containing “V2” and a number. Mixed writing directions may display differently along some export paths. The final file matters more than a correct preview inside the editing software.
Review picture and sound separately, then together
Watch once without sound and listen once without watching. Sound design should make speech easier to understand. If the video includes visual effects or generated imagery, check jumps and changing details during complete playback, not only selected frames.
Specify whether delivery needs a separate subtitle file or captions burned into the image. Record file versions and destinations in the publishing calendar. For a Visionairt editing consultation, send the original footage, approved text and publishing destination so the output requirements are clear.
